FEES AND SCHOLARSHIPS
Writers accepted into the retreat must pay a registration fee which covers tuition and housing by or before December 15th. The Watering Hole sponsors between 50% and 75% of every fellows fees. The remaining costs are covered by the fellows. Fees are based on the housing option chosen. With multiple pay options to choose from, fellows may choose the option that best suits their needs. The Watering Hole also offers scholarships to eligible applicants. See below for more information.

Scholarships
The Watering Hole South Carolina Griot Scholarship will be offered to one poet currently residing in South Carolina. The scholarship covers tuition and registration fee for a traditional occupancy room. (This scholarship does not cover application fee, travel, food, etc.) If selected, candidates must provide proof of residency within 24 hours of notification. To apply for this scholarship, eligible applicants only need to answer the corresponding question in the retreat application form.
The Watering Hole North Carolina Griot Scholarship will be offered to one poet currently residing in North Carolina. The scholarship covers tuition and registration fee for a traditional occupancy room. (This scholarship does not cover application fee, travel, food, etc.) If selected, candidates must provide proof of residency within 24 hours of notification. To apply for this scholarship, eligible applicants only need to answer the corresponding question in the retreat application form.
The Watering Hole Tribe Sankofa Scholarship will be offered to one poet experiencing financial hardship. The scholarship covers tuition and registration fee for a traditional occupancy room. (This scholarship does not cover application fee, travel, food, etc.) To apply, candidates must upload a 300-word essay explaining why they need funding to the application.
